A Kingdom of Ends

Something down past the turnoff, crouching, eyeballing us, letting us know it is watching. Or so it woud seem. Kant warns us against believing in the watcher. Do good from duty, not because you suspect being watched—make goodness out of duty to each other. We are not being watched; we watch each other. Some can watch themselves. Those with that ability have a different duty. They alone are capable of Evil. Either we will nobility by forgetting outselves or act ignobly out of weakness. It is OK to be weak, but not malicious. Keep in mind: if we all acted from duty, human beings could form a kingdom of ends (rather than living in a system as means). Kant said ”Popularity may follow, but is inadmissible in the beginning.”
